The Best Cologne in my opinion!

A classic Caswell-Massey That I've used since the 1980s. I wish that you stick to the original all natural formula. Later formulations irritate my skin and make me avoid using it. The fact George Washington used it gives it historical cachet, and as such I've gifted it to foreign friends.

My uncle used this fragrance many years ago. I started with the cologne and then added the perfume and soap. Finally I purchased an entire shaving kit and beard care set. Very glad I did. One it reminds me of my uncle and two it is a very sophisticated sent that I enjoy and so does those who are around me. I am not changing now that I found these.

What to say about the OG of clean bright barbershop scents. I have over 50 scents. This one became my favorite very quickly. I was given the shave cream and had to have the cologne. It is clean and crisp. The clove adds a hint of mystery. I think next time I would get the parfum. Both products are amazing!

number six cologne confers both subtle as well assertive tonalities. neither floral nor spicy the lingering ambience proves a welcome companion with which to spend a day. the predominant top note offers an inviting entry; hints of amber in a gentle presentment.

I first wore Number 6 many years ago. My wife loves it.

I've been around for awhile and over the years my tastes have evolved regarding grooming. For ages I've used spray can shaving gels and after shave/colognes by popular designers. When it comes to scents the past couple of decades I've stuck with lighter, citrus or Bay Rhum products. More recently I decided to try Caswell & Massey's shave cream and scents despite thinking using a shaving brush was for hipsters. Choosing Number Six was easy, how could George Washington by wrong? I really enjoy these products and they are subtle but the scent does get noticed and not in a bad way. Woodgrain is also very pleasing as an alternative. All of the C-M products are reasonably priced and their service is excellent.

I like the light citrus notes and I find it works well with my skin. Layering it with the eau de parfum adds a touch of depth and staying power.

By George!
It's a manly scent, well suited for men if the revolutionary era, and surprisingly ladies have complimented it. I say surprisingly, because other reviews say that mostly men enjoy the scent compared to women. It's a clean scent with a hint of Sauvage in there, a hint of Greenbriar, and no Jockey Club scent; if that makes sense to those that are familiar with the other scents. It lasts for at least 8 hours. If you're working and perspiring a lot, ,go with Greenbriar, as it lasts longer and is more refreshing. For a grounded, deeper masculine scent, Number VI is the candidate. It's a very grounding scent that warrants the terms sophisticated, competent, steadfast, cool under fire, and Commandatore.
I wore Jockey Club first and it's a powdery, frenetic, athletic, younger scent. Greenbrier is like an Irish Spring meets Jockey Club, akimbo to Irish Tweed perhaps.

Very Nice

I gave my husband the Number 6 perfume/soap combo for Christmas and he really loved it. He just ran out of the perfume and asked me to reorder but I decided to try the cologne to compare them. The perfume was much deeper and warmer with rich notes while the cologne is much lighter and citrussy while still being true to the fragrance. Both are very nice and I think the cologne will be perfect for the warmer months ahead and I will probably buy him the perfume again for Christmas. He works in a professional office and this is a very nice fragrance to wear to work. My history buff husband loves the scent and so do I.

Thank you so much for sharing this thoughtful feedback. We’re glad to hear your husband enjoyed Number 6 and that both the perfume and cologne are working well for different occasions. We really appreciate your detailed insight and support!

I had my doubts but I am sold on Number Six Cologne. And thank goodness for George Washington

I’m currently reading the biography of Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow and, naturally, George Washington is quite important in this book. Then, by chance, I saw an ad in my Facebook stream by Caswell-Massey advertising GW’s favorite cologne, Number Six, and I could not resist.

I have to tell you it is quite delightful with a fresh scent that is not overpowering. It feels current. Hard to believe it has been around for 250 years.

GW must have been a heck of a guy in person and the life of any gathering.

I highly recommend this, especially to history lovers.

Thank you so much, David! We’re thrilled that Number Six Cologne exceeded your expectations and that its history added to your enjoyment. George Washington would be honored! We appreciate your recommendation and hope you continue to enjoy exploring our historic fragrances.

Very Strong Citrus

I bought the Discovery Collection and loved the No. 6 eau de parfum, so I got the cologne expecting it to smell the same. I don't detect any similarities between the two. The citrus overpowers any other scent that is supposed to be in it.

The scent of history

This is a timeless scent, and it's easy to see why. It's not overpowering yet lasts all day. I am very sensitive to strong smells, and this has not bothered me in the least.

Loved it Since 1975

I love this cologne. I have a bottle from 1975 with a little left which I have kept till I got the new one this year. The scent has not changed . It is perfect that way it is. This has been one of my favorites. It is light and has a very pleasing scent.

Number 6 is #1

Bought several of these in the past couple of months. It’s a unique scent. Refreshing, citrusy and warm! The history behind this particular cologne is really cool! I will be a regular customer for years to come!

Hi Tim! Thank you for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled you enjoy the scent and its story, and we look forward to having you as a valued customer for years to come!

Smells like - Imma cross the Delaware at 2am for this man 😏

I purchased this cologne as a gift for my husband who is a history buff and United States Army Veteran. I knew he would appreciate the gift for the history but underestimated how much he would enjoy the scent. What's more, I underestimated how much I WOULD ENJOY THE SCENT! This scent opens with the quiet confidence of bergamot and rosemary, warms quickly with clove, and leaves a calming sillage of lavender. In short, it's Founding Father in the streets and Yes Daddy in the sheets.😏 10/10, would recommend.

A Gift for my husband

He opened the box today (12/24), but didn't look inside, and I thought he did. Well, I decided to give it to him for Christmas Eve. I absolutely love it on him, and he enjoys it as well. I don't know why I never bought this for him before. This will be his new go to. I'm so glad I decided to try this for him. It is a great fragrance, and how can you beat the history? I will get him the JFK next. Thank you for carrying these fragrances. Everything arrived safe and sound, great packaging and delivery!

Smell like America

After purchasing Number Six Cologne, I understand why President Washington was such a fan. Clean vibrant scent that few colognes can pull off. If you enjoy being an American, purchase this cologne now!
